Outpatient and Inpatient Care at Pathways
Pathways provides both inpatient and outpatient care for clients with substance use disorders.
Outpatient treatment allows clients to receive care without the need to stay overnight in a healthcare facility. This type of care can include routine doctor’s office visits and weekly counseling sessions.
In contrast, inpatient care offers 24/7 treatment and monitoring. If you have ever stayed overnight in a hospital, you have received inpatient medical care. Pathways operates two inpatient facilities: a women’s center with eight available spots and a men’s center with six. Most clients in inpatient care at Pathways stay for a duration of 30 to 90 days.
Detoxification to Inpatient Treatment
At Pathways, many inpatient clients embark on their journey to recovery with detoxification, a vital step in transitioning away from alcohol or substances. This process is designed to support clients during this transformative time, ensuring they are guided through withdrawal with care and compassion. While some may experience discomfort, Pathways prioritizes a supportive environment that minimizes both physical and mental challenges, promoting a safe pathway to healing.
Following detox, clients seamlessly transition into regular inpatient treatment, where they engage in dynamic group, family, and individual therapy sessions. With 24/7 access to dedicated staff, clients enjoy a blend of support and flexibility as they begin to establish a strong foundation for lasting sobriety and recovery.
Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)
After completing inpatient treatment, many clients take the next positive step into our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). In this welcoming setting, clients can return home each day after participating in enriching therapy sessions. Spending about nine hours per week at Pathways, clients benefit from the same transformative therapies offered during inpatient care. This structured yet flexible approach empowers them to embrace their recovery journey with resilience and hope, paving the way for a brighter future.
What is Dual Diagnosis?
With the right approach, many clients can achieve long-term sobriety through effective dual diagnosis treatment. Dual diagnosis highlights the positive connection between understanding substance use disorders and mental health challenges such as depression, anxiety, PTSD, and bipolar disorder. It’s estimated that a significant number of individuals facing substance use disorders also have co-occurring mental health conditions, and addressing both aspects can lead to transformative change.
Recognizing that substance use and mental health can intertwine offers hope; some individuals seek substances to cope with mental health symptoms, while others may find that the journey of recovery inspires healing from mental health challenges. By treating all aspects of a person’s well-being, we pave the way for sustainable recovery. Our dedicated team is committed to identifying any undiagnosed mental health concerns you may face, ensuring that your treatment is thorough and geared towards your overall success. Together, we can embark on a journey toward recovery that supports both your mental health and substance use challenges, bringing renewed hope for a brighter future.
A Typical Day at Pathways
We offer a highly structured schedule for our inpatient clients with the aim of making the most out of your time with us. This schedule also permits time for clients to unwind while in treatment.

The above schedule may differ slightly based on individual clients’ circumstances.
Saturday and Sunday
Early weekend mornings at Pathways kick off similarly to our vibrant weekday routine, filled with breakfast, medication distribution, meditations, and uplifting check-ins before 10 a.m. Saturdays bring joy with group outings from 1 to 4 p.m., which our clients truly cherish. After delightful Sunday lunches, many inpatient clients connect with family and loved ones from 1 to 4 p.m. The weekends wrap up with enriching in-house NA or AA meetings, exciting movies, or engaging health and wellness sessions.
We're here to help.
